Education

I’ve been considering applying to Full Sail University for their Graphic Design program. I’m apprehensive about doing this though because there just isn’t really any work out there, but at the same time I feel like I still have a lot to learn as a graphic artist.
I think one of the biggest things holding me back from applying is the stupid $75 application fee. $75 is a lot of money to be throwing away on something that I might not even be able to do. Especially when you’re broke.

Oh well…

Bomber and the Grizz

Just a quick update for anyone who follows. My glorious animation project is on hold for now while I work on a new comic book project. The other day my team and I finished the script for the first issue of Bomber and the Grizzly. You should be able to expect a release date of February 2012.

The Bear

After talking with Dr. Kronner we decided to include the bear from Grizzly Strips in the header along with The Party Crasher. So, I now present The Party Crasher’s companion and the new header for GrizzlyBomb.com.

Nate & Stu 2.0

I feel somewhat foolish for starting over with the characters but now I have a better idea of what I want/need to do with the animation program.

So, here are my sketches for Nate and Stu the talking Panda.

More Grizzly Bomb Art

Above is a banner I made for GrizzlyBomb.com

I tried to keep to the style of the original (below), while adding some flashy elements to it.

What do you guys think of it?

Grizzly Bomb Art

I’m working on some art for the Grizzly Bomb website in an attempt to, maybe, improve the banner. Not sure if Dr. Kronner will like the idea or not, but I figured what the hell, couldn’t hurt to try.

And so without further gilding the lily and with no more ado, I give to you, The Party Crasher!

Animation is Hard

Spent around 7-8 hours fumbling my way through Toon Boom Animate today. The sum total of my accomplishments being that I think I am on the right track for making a character model.

I have to say, teaching myself animation feels a lot tougher than teaching myself to use Photoshop.

Leave me a comment letting me know what you think the name of the Grizzly Bomb cartoon should be.

Nate: Now With Color!

So I still haven’t managed to figure out what to do with the Stu character for the Grizzly Bomb cartoon. However, I did complete the initial drawings for the Nate character.

The problems I am running into with the Stu character it a guy in a bear suit is going to be hard to animate. At least it will be hard for a guy who really doesn’t know what he’s doing with animation… a.k.a. me.

Untitled Grizzly Bomb Project

I have been working with a friend on this project and it has changed a bit over the past few weeks.

The project started out as a web cartoon that would make fun of movies using the characters from Grizzly Strips. However it quickly changed because I am unable to do the voice of The Party Crasher.

So I thought maybe it would be better if it was more of a talk show in style where two bears talk about movies and entertainment news, but ditched that idea after several failed attempts to draw bears that would be easily animated but still looked nice.

After talking with my friend Steve, who will be voicing one of the characters, I decided that the characters would be Nate and Stu the talking bear. Stu is just a guy in a panda suit but it’s unknown weather Nate knows this or if he thinks Stu is actually a talking bear.

Anyway here are my first sketches of Nate.

Drawings of Stu the Talking Bear coming soon.

Hazel Park 2: The Photos of Doom

Here are the pictures of the completed banners that were used in the shows by the Hazel Park Marching Band.

The band decided to print a cityscape onto the back of the banners which you can kind of see on some of them.
